AACAAS Program Recognition Council

​The AACAAS Program Recognition Council oversees the award-based programs that have been a very traditional part of AACAAS and NACAA. Members can enter competitive contests that highlight the following areas: 4-H and Youth, Communications, Professional Excellence, Public Relations, Recognition and Awards, Scholarship ad Search for Excellence.​
  • COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
To recognize AACAAS members who excel in communication programs and ideas to their clientele. This committee coordinates NACAA communications awards.
  • PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE COMMITTEE 
The objective of the Professional Excellence Committee is to showcase excellence in program efforts of AACAAS members. This will be done by giving members the opportunity to present posters with abstracts at the AACAAS Annual Meeting /Professional Improvement Conference and NACAA Annual Meeting/Professional Improvement Conference. Another objective to this committee is to assist members with their career promotion and performance evaluations
  • PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE 
It is the responsibility of all members of AACAAS to promote good public relations. However, this committee will assume leadership in developing suggestions for improving the public image of Alabama Cooperative Extension and the extension educator, implement a system whereby all AACAAS award recipients receive recognition in their home community media, encourage AACAAS  members to enter the Agriculture Awareness and Appreciation Award program and helps identify candidates for the AACAAS Friend of Extension and Lifetime Achievement Awards.
  • RECOGNITION AND AWARDS COMMITTEE
This committee is primarily concerned with the selection and presentation of candidates for Distinguished Service Awards, Achievement Awards and Hall of Fame nominees. This committee makes recommendations for other awards and recognition of members or non-members when appropriate and handles the preparation and submission of award nomination forms.
  • SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
This committee coordinates and selects yearly AACAAS scholarship winners and coordinates and conducts the annual scholarship auction during the AACAAS Annual Meeting.
  • SEARCH FOR EXCELLENCE COMMITTEE 
The objectives of the Search for Excellence Committee will be to promote and encourage submission of quality programming efforts by AACAAS members. This committee will provide recognition for quality efforts in program development, implementation and evaluation by AACAAS members in the following areas:
• Search for Excellence in Consumer or Commercial Horticulture
• Search for Excellence in Crop Production
• Search for Excellence in Livestock Production
• Search for Excellence in Farmand Ranch Financial Management
• Search for Excellence in Environmental Quality and Natural Resources
• Search for Excellence in Young, Beginning or Small Farmers/Ranchers
• Search for Excellence in Sustainable Agriculture
